ABOUT ME
Nydia Resto hails from Vega Alta, Puerto Rico. Her artistic journey started when she was ten years old and started singing in her schools choir. Later on she was chosen to be part of San Juan Children's choir, an illustrious choir in Puerto Rico that focuses on Music Theory and Sight-Reading. This group exposes them to travel all around the world, in Resto's case, to perform both in the Inaugural acts of President Obama on Washington and before Pope Francis during the audience with the Supreme Pontiff in the Vatican.
After high school, Nydia went off to the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus where she majored in Theatre Studies focusing on Acting. Her development with San Juan Children's choir allowed her to perform in other choirs like Coralia, The Concert Choir of the University of Puerto Rico, with who she sang throughout Ecuador, Colombia and Italy competing internationally. In College, Resto had the opportunity to participate in productions in the Department of Theatre such as "Platero y yo", a Plays such as Platero & I, which is a very physical play, where she used her body to represent objects, such as grass, fire and wind, and to give it the energy within the movement play. In the mean time she attended to Centro Danza, a dance Academy in Puerto Rico, where she started training as a ballerina. She focused in Ballet, Jazz and Ballroom. Within this Academy she was fortunate enough to participate in different Ballets like Swan Lake and The Lion King. At the same time she trained classically in The Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico as a Mezzo soprano.
After College, Resto has had the opportunity to perform as ensemble in original plays in Puerto Rico such as Charlie The Musical, Mameyes, La Guagua Aérea and also known plays like Beauty And The Beast, Les Misérables. In 2024 Nydia was booked as Sara Rodríguez in Blue Gates Theater Shipshewana. Since then she's worked in several revue shows within Blue Gate Theater such as Songs Of The Season, Classical Country Show and Gospel Show.
